Position Summary: The EHS Manager has a safety always mindset. While touring any part of the facility they always keep safety in mind and are never afraid to speak up about safety to employees. Assures employees adhere to safety standards and that the Graham campus complies with applicable federal, state, health, safety and environmental regulations, laws and standards.
Key Results Areas by level of work:
Resource management (material and people)
Directs and develops specialized education and training for the facility for any EHS materials:
Schedules and/or conducts monthly-specialized safety and environmental training programs to communicate hazard control information.
Oversees Respirator and Hearing Conservation programs.
Assists in new employee health, safety and environmental orientation, touring employees through the facility.
Conducts monthly Safety Committee meetings and manages committee’s involvement in the safety program.
Accidents:
Be the main employee on call at all hours for accident/emergency response – making sure supervisors complete near misses, accident forms, taking employees to emergency room / Immediate care
Lead the ERT team – having meetings, controlling inventory with team, updating ERT sheets, doing necessary trainings.
Be the main contact for our claims management company – keying in accidents on time, fighting any accidents that deem it, collecting data, providing all legal documents for claims management.
Completing accident reviews, placing employees into additional safety training.
Capable of having confidentiality, understanding HIPAA, being able to navigate the employee HR system.
Compiles, analyzes, interprets and reports accident, loss, and exposure statistical data; prepares comprehensive recommendations for corrective action to eliminate or minimize potential hazards. Reviews injury and property damage reports.
Resource scheduling, output management and reporting
Identifies and evaluates hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace:
Routinely surveys to identify and evaluate occupational health, safety, and environmental conditions
Conducts and coordinates on-site inspections to audit physical conditions and safe work practices.
Develops controls for identified hazards and provides advice and counsel concerning city, state, and federal compliance regulations.
Partners with agencies for collection of data, inspections, and resources for any health, safety, or environmental audits/inspections, making sure that we remain on time/current. Whether visit be announced or unannounced.
Plans and coordinates environmental compliance programs, ensuring timely submittal, related to hazardous wastes, air permitting, water pollution control, and emergency planning and community right-to-know programs. Oversees the application for and receipt of necessary permits.
Maintains an effective Safety Data Sheets (SDS) program. Oversees all aspects of hazardous waste collection, on-site holding processes and disposal processes.
Schedule internal compliance audits when necessary.
Resources and policies
Keep policies current and up to date with laws, regulations and any other reason for change.
Ensures compliance with all Company, Federal and State policies and regulations.
Be a member of the ESG committee, reporting data and feeding the information to appropriate parties as necessary.
Continuous Improvement
Be a champion for a 5S program that promotes continuous improvement of shop/office safety. Help assist, identify, plan and facilitate 5S improvements/events with the Continuous Improvement Manager
Keeps an open mind to others continuous improvement suggestions
Bring continuous improvement suggestions to the appropriate team member.
Equipment & process maintenance
Keeps up on maintenance of any equipment for safety.
Keep track of all safety equipment given out to employees, making sure employees return equipment when necessary, they take care of the equipment they use, and they understand how to use it properly.
Professional Development
Demonstrates initiative, positive attitude, and enthusiasm for the job.
Will follow up with supervisor on professional development goals and opportunities.
Takes an interest and lets it be known that they have a desire to grow with the company.
Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, an individual must possess the knowledge, training, experience and abilities required.
Education and Training
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Management, or Safety Engineering.
Experience:
5+ years of EHS in a manufacturing setting.
5 years of on the job EHS experience in lieu of formal education.
Other
Must be willing to work overtime as required.
Minimal travel may be required
Certificate in Safety management preferred.
Skills:
