Overview: Cloud Infrastructure is responsible for powering Microsoft’s “Intelligent Cloud” mission. Microsoft Silicon and Cloud Hardware Infrastructure Engineering (SCHIE) delivers the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft’s over 200 online businesses including Bing, MSN, Office 365, Xbox Live, Teams, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform globally. As Microsoft’s cloud business continues to grow, the ability to deploy new offerings and hardware infrastructure on time, in high volume with high quality and lowest cost is of paramount importance. To achieve this goal, the Hardware, Infrastructure Management, and Fundamentals Engineering (HIFE) team is instrumental in defining and delivering operational measures of success for hardware manufacturing, improving the planning process, quality, delivery, scale, and sustainability related to Microsoft cloud hardware.
We are looking for a Director, New Technology Engineering AI/ML Platforms with a dedicated passion for customer-focused solutions, insight, and industry knowledge to envision and implement future technical solutions that will manage and optimize the Cloud infrastructure. This role has a direct and measurable impact in delivering Azure capacity leveraging server platform capabilities and architectures.
Responsibilities:
Manage a team of NTE PMs to support the introduction of new cloud services, hardware platforms, and the tools/processes to deploy next-generation cloud infrastructure capabilities.
Oversee NTE’s relationship with and encourage partnerships with organizations across Microsoft such as Datacenters, Supply Chain, hardware and software development, Architects Program Managers, Business Development, Legal, and other relevant Microsoft teams.
Provide technical and organizational leadership, and drive collaboration across organizations to deliver processes and tooling readiness for New Technology deployments in Azure datacenters.
Serve as a member of the NTE leadership team, accountable for modeling and encouraging core cultural values such as respect, integrity, and accountability.
Analyze data to identify, prototype, and drive the implementation of technical and process improvements to increase the predictability, agility, and quality of our capacity deployment systems.
Continuously drive improvements in the Time-to-Market (TTM) for the introduction of new cloud services.
Effectively communicate with and influence executives and technology leaders inside and outside of Microsoft.
Drive technical projects from requirements through launch, including managing complex project schedules, mitigating risks, and keeping processes running smoothly.
Coach and mentor Technical PMs within the team.
